The Beginning
In the beginning, you will have to make sure you know what you motivations are. Try to make time and browse through anti-smoking materials for more weeks, so you know how bad your habit is. In time, you will find the motivation you need and discover an increasing desire to quit. This is a decision that has to be taken as fast as possible, because with each passing day you become more and more addicted. If you have friends that used to smoke and successfully quitted, then you will find out first hand that there’s no secret behind this.
The reasons behind your decision to quit
Look over all the reasons you might have:
-You will be adding a few more years to your life.
- You might not have to suffer from sever diseases after all.
- You will stop hurting those in your family who have to breathe in your smoke, you will stop polluting your baby while he is in the joovy tandem stroller and you smoke besides him
- You will find a forgotten will to live and to move.
- You will have more money which you can spend is a more useful way than buying cigarettes.
Write down everything that happens when you quit
No one can make you do anything, except yourself. A secret journal will help you evaluate all your reasons when it becomes hard to stay away from cigarettes. In this journal, you can provide answers to questions like:
Did smoking for so long influenced your today self and personality?
What enhancements and changes can you make?
What can you do to change the home or work environment where everyone smokes?
Why does smoking give you pleasure?
What makes you hate smoking?
Are there persons that can help you quit?
What are the quitting benefits for you?
Think of a date you want to quit
Decide on an early date. If you delay the date and do not want to specify a clear day when you are going to quit you risk loosing your enthusiasm. Better think of a period that is not very stressful Make a program for the first few days. Because the first days are very hard, you should think of a period when you can keep your mind busy with something else.
During the first days, some persons prefer being overloaded and doing every minute something else. Others prefer sleeping. This is a decision that belongs to each one of us, but you’ll have to be ready to do whatever it takes to feel as comfortable as possible. If this resumes to simply laying for a few days in bed, do not hesitate. These few days you will experience sever addiction symptoms, but they will pass. You must not be scared of re-accommodation to a normal and healthy life. You can quit smoking in the end, and you will learn to love the person you’ll become without the addiction chains to surround you.
