Plastic Surgery – Are You Contemplating This Procedure?
Do you know the difference between cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery? According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), aesthetic surgery, also known as cosmetic surgery is done to improve self-esteem and appearance by reshaping or restoring normal body structures. Plastic surgery, also known as reconstructive surgery is used to repair abnormal structures of the body that may have been caused by trauma, birth defects, injuries and tumors, such as skin and breast cancer.
You may be surprised to learn that many men are now opting for this type of elective surgery. One of the more popular procedures for men is neck liposuction, which removes areas of fat around the neck and sculpts the area for an improved look. More often than not, this is combined with a face lift or other type of facial surgery, such as chin liposuction. When asked why they want the surgery in the first place, many state it is for work related reasons and view it as an investment in themselves.
Ultrasonic liposuction is the number one cosmetic/plastic surgical procedure being performed. The method behind the ultrasonic procedure is that the fat is “shaken or loosened” and this enables it to be sucked out of the body more efficiently.
Do you think that our culture is too obsessed with youth and beauty? Possibly a little too focused on appearances? When asked why they had opted for plastic surgery, some people responded by saying they thought it would make their lives better. Stating that their self-image prior to the surgery was pretty low and after surgery it was almost like being a whole new person. Which may lead you to believe that perhaps we are a little too dependent upon our looks.
With any specialized or general surgery you will need time to recover after surgery, and the time varies from person to person as well as according to the procedure. You will also need to allow time for both physical and emotional issues. Many physicians say that the emotional recovery is usually something the patient has not counted on and as such, they try to make sure to discuss this issue before all surgeries.
Naturally, there are numerous reasons why someone may elect to have plastic surgery. There are things to consider and keep in mind before having a procedure. Surgeons can only work with what basics are there, meaning that they cannot mold someone’s appearance as if they were made of clay. There are certain considerations, such as a persons overall health, their age and skin texture. Physicians tell us another important consideration is the person’s state of mind prior to the operation. If they assume this is going to make them beautiful and fix all of their problems, then they are very likely not a good candidate for this type of procedure.
Cosmetic surgery has become all the rage and it is no wonder. People are simply unhappy with their bodies. Perhaps it is a few wrinkles or it may be a pocket of cellulite that simply will not go away with exercise. Have hope though before you go under the knife of a plastic surgeon. There are alternatives to liposuction that may work out to your advantage. Creams and certain lotions have been proven to help reduce cellulite and it may be just what you need to rid yourself of that unsightly cellulite budge. Also, for reducing cellulite, as well as for losing weight I recommend you to do these things:
* Walk, swim, run, dance…
* Exercise at least half an hour a day
* Drink lots of water – improves blood circulation, makes cellulite less visible
* Eat health food – you can check more on the above link
* Brush and massage – also makes cellulite less visible, helps removing it, boosts circulation and skin looks healthier
* Moisturize your skin
* Take cold showers
* Relax – stress could also cause cellulite accumulation
And avoid doing these things:
* Junk food – it has “bad” calories (your body is not able to use them up, instead it stores them in form of fat, and fat becomes cellulite if pushed away from cells – read about this here: http://cellulite-battle.blogspot.com/2008/07/cellulite-basics-cellulite-vs-fat.html)
* Alcohol, cigarettes – generally they’re very bad for your skin tone, and improve the appearance of cellulite. Alcohol also dehydrates your body.
* Physical inactivity – less physically active you are more calories don’t end up burned but stored. Also inactivity makes your circulation worse, and so cellulite can form more easily.
* Tight clothes – those are not good for your blood and lymph circulation, so avoid them if possible.
